EU Proforbiomed - How much energy can we subtract from the Italian forests without hurting them? The case study of Region Lazio

On 18 October 2013 will be held in Rome, at the Sala Tirreno of Region Lazio headquarters, a national conference on the enhancement of forest biomass for energy purposes. The conference, organized by ISPRA in collaboration with the Region Lazio, aims to present the results of the EU project Proforbiomed (which ISPRA participates as a partner), funded under the European program of social cohesion. The conference presents the diversity of Lazio's forest resources, their potential to produce energy and development for rural populations, express proposals for rural development through the use of a renewable and carbon neutral energy source, making available to other regional and local institutions the method developed and also discuss the role of bioenergy in the context of international agreements in matters related to energy and climate
