In the whole of the SEARCH project (School Environment and Respiratory Health of Children) started in 2006 with the financial and technical support of the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea (IMELS) has been developed a new tool  called The Air Pack. The toolkit for schools prepared as part of the project “School Environment and Respiratory Health of Children” (SEARCH) was fully produced with the support of Environment and Health Service of ISPRA.

The Air Pack is the result of the two completed research projects, SEARCH I and SEARCH II. A total of 10 countries participated: four from the Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia region and six from Europe. In SEARCH II, a total of 101 schools were involved and 6,758 children were assessed. The SEARCH II recommendations were applied in selected schools in two pilot countries, Albania and Italy, in the scope of SEARCH III.

The didactical resources and the information are based on the 3 main sector that affect air quality in the school : “outdoor” air ( air pollution and green space), the pollutant sources “indoor” and the microclimate comfort, underling the sustainability policies, also included the environmental education, as a management tools or air quality inside schools.

The Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea together with ISPRA and USR Lazio next 17 February  will  present the AirPack web site to manager schools, teachers, DSGA responsible and other stakeholders interested in the project.
