The presence of rats on small islands, as a consequence of the growing human activity, is a source of serious threats to seabird colonies involved in reproduction all over the world. Entire populations of endemic species on oceanic islands have been rapidly brought to extinction few years after the arrival of those predators. Also in the Mediterranean, where rats have been living for over 2000 years, alarming situations have recently been highlighted - and in some cases resolved. The workshop aims to take stock of the Italian knowledge and experience about the topic. It will be also the first occasion of meeting for the interested parties.
