Italian Greenhouse Gas Inventory 1990-2008. National Inventory Report 2010

Congress

Rome, 22 April

The preparation of the national inventory of emissions is one of the annual institutional tasks carried our by ISPRA. The inventory is an essential monitoring tool to hold in check the commitments made at international level on environmental pollution, such as the Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Kyoto Protocol, the Geneva Convention on Transboundary Air Pollution (UNECE- CLRTAP), the European Directives on emissions limiting. These emissions are reported by the Ministry of Environment to international organizations.
In particular, based on the provisions of the Framework Convention on Climate Change, ISPRA produces the National Inventory Report, which shows the estimating methodologies, the data and emission factors sources, and illustrates the Quality Assurance / Quality Control which the inventary is subject to. The National Inventory Report facilitates the processes of international verification on the estimates in order to verify their compliance with criteria of transparency, consistency, comparability, completeness and accuracy.
