New capture of puffer fish "Lagocephalus sceleratus : the toxic species reaches the coast of Calabria

Last 15 April ISPRA received the notification of the sighting of a puffer fish , called "Lagocephalus sceleratus".

This species,  highly toxic, had been captured in the sea of town Briatico, Calabria. The catch was promptly communicated to researchers thanks the information campaign that ISPRA has been developing on piffer fish; determining, in this case, the cooperation with the local newspaper “Il Vibonese”.

The toxin maintains its effect even after cooking. ISPRA therefore calls on all fishermen to separate the species from the other fishes , freeze  it and send a notifications
