The research team of Department of "Sustainable Use of Resources - Aquaculture" of ISPRA participates in SUSHIN project (Sustainable Fish feeds innovative ingredients), winner of the AGER competition, which promotes research in the agrifood sector with the support of  ten bank foundation. The project responds to the strong need to reduce the use of fish meal and fish oils commonly used in  animal feed for aquaculture, but now less available due to its increased requested and costs (source : FAO, 2014).

Sushin aims to study alternative ingredients to substitute  the consume of fish meal and fish oils, for the formulation of more sustainable feed for trout, sea bass and sea bream, the three main fish species farmed in Italy.
