Over 500 Exemplars of Spatula in the Po Delta

There are over two hundred couples of this curious species of bird, aquatic and colonial, settled permanently in five wetlands of the lower Ferrara and the Ravenna coast, but their number could increase soon, according to an Ispra survey.

A study published on the Journal of Animal Ecology  (Conspecific and not performance-based attraction on immigrants drives colony growth in a waterbird ) carried by researchers of ISPRA and University of Pavia, in cooperation with the Museum's researchers  off the Sciences of Trento and the Spanish Institute Imedea.
