The consumption of soil, the loss due to the transformation of agricultural and natural areas with building constructions, infrastructures or other artificial coverages, travels at a speed of circa 3 square meters per second, just about 30 hectares per day, according to the latest data published by ISPRA in the national report on soil consumption.

In order to raise awareness about the use and the importance of this environmental resource, it was decided to celebrate in the day of December 5 the soil world day day, a precious resource on which depends our survival, but also a fragile, hidden and non-renewable resource, whose value is little recognized by the Society.

ISPRA, that year publishes the Report on soil consumption, decided to celebrate that day with a video message in which four people involved on various fronts in this battle, say their opinion and invite us to be more careful about  the soil we consume.
