Conference presentation : SNPA environmental control report –AIA/SEVESO edition 2017

On 19 April ISPRA, with the participation of the Forestry, Environmental and Agrifood Command Unit of  Carabinieri, presents the Environmental Control Report of the SNPA - AIA / Seveso Edition 2017. The SNPA AIA/SEVESO Environmental Control Report represents the only one detailed reporting publication at national level on the control activities carried out in 2016 by the NationalSystem for Environmental Protection  (SNPA constituted by the ISPRA - National Institute for Environmental Protection and Research and 21 Regional EPAs) on industrial plants located on Italian territory classified and authorized as AIA and SEVESO according to Directives 2010/75/UE and 2012/18/UE, respectively

The LIFE U-SAVEREDS Project has been funded by the European Union to protect the Eurasian red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) in Umbria and, more broadly, the biodiversity in the Apennines. The threat to the red squirrel conservation is represented by the presence of the American grey squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis), introduced near Perugia in the early 2000s. The grey squirrel is included in the list of 100 of the worst invasive alien species (IAS) in Europe and worldwide, and more recently it has been included in the list of invasive species of Union concern (EU implementing regulation n. 1141/2016), under the European Regulation no. 1143/2014.

The project, started in 2014, was financed by the European Community and has provided different actions in the Lagoon of Venice with the aim to restore seagrass, as a measure to be achieved by Habitat dir.2000/60/CE. The conference will have foreign and italian experts, representatives of the Institutions, as an opportunity for comparison between the scientific and institutional world on the management environments in transiction, and is divided in three sessions: Results of the LIFE SERESTO project and other experiences  seagras; European projects about similar topic; Round table, lead by ISPRA, wwith the participation of ARPA, District Basin Authority and MATTM, on the theme "Protection and restoration in the Italian lagoons: state of the art, technical-scientific gap and directions for applied research"

Presentation of Report Environment (SNPA) and Environmental Data Year Book (ISPRA)

The environmental data year book  and  the Report Environment are both expression of the National System  for Environmental Protection , and together represent the official source more completed, reliable and reasoned inter-environmental environmental information in our country. The event, one year later the entry into force of the law foundation of the National System for Environmental Protection, testifies theincreasingly effective collaboration between the various components of the SNPA on the priority theme of environmental information.

Kick-off conference of the LIFE16 "By bike through the Natura 2000 network-Sic2Sic"

Next 20 march at the Europe Space of European Commission in Rome, there will be the official launch of the LIFE Project LIFE16 "By bike through the Natura 2000 network-Sic2Sic". The project, lead by ISPRA, with also the participation of different partners like Ares 2.0, Fiab, Enne3, aim   to make aware citizens, schools, businesses and institutions of the significance and importance of the Natura 2000 network.

Final meeting "LIFE project+One deer two island"

The LIFE + project "One deer, two islands", funded by the European Union, which was attended by Forestas, the Province of Southern Sardinia, the Province of Nuoro, the Regional Natural Park of Corsica and ISPRA, has allowed  the creation of three new populations in suitable areas located in the SCI of Ogliastra, increased the genetic variability of the existing populations in Corsica and carried out ecological corridors to promote the natural dispersion of individuals and the colonization of new areas.

XIII Report on Urban Environment Quality - 2017 edition

The report has come to the thirteenth edition. Made by the National System for Environmental Protection - SNPA, it has become over the years a reference for professionals and for users, thanks also to analyzes and assessments provided by the SNPA experts on the numerous data presented, which help the reader to understand the phenomena. The 2017 edition of the report provides the updates for all the 119 ( 116 Italian provincial capitals plus the 3 cities most populated) of a set of core indicators for the analysis of the urban environmental quality and urban quality of life in the Italian cities.

Food waste: a systemic approach for structural prevention and reduction

Food waste has emerged recently as one of the major environmental and socio-economic issues that humanity faces. Analysis on the subject are at the early stage and the concordance on methodologies need to be developed. This report reviews international literature and analyzes the most relevant links between food wastage and other issues, such a land/soil, water, energy consumption, degradation of biological integrity, climate change, alteration of the nitrogen cycle, food safety and sovereignty, circular bioeconomy, in order to build a socio-ecological vision.
