Last summer, while large fires devastated the forests of Siberia, Amazonia and Central Africa, the European Commission adopted a communication outlining a new framework of actions to protect and restore the world's forests, which represent a fundamental resource in the combat to climate change. The actions provided by the Commission the most important are related to with the import of raw materials whose production is linked, directly and indirectly, to deforestation processes. Italy is a traditional importer of raw materials at risk of deforestation: not only timber, but also meat, soy, palm oil, coffee, cocoa, leather, etc. The workshop aims to present the first results of the surveys on these import flows and ways to promote free deforestation consumption.

At the round table an Ispra expert will participate.
