Ten years ago, on April 6, 2009, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake devastated L'Aquila and the entire Valle dell'Aterno, an area already so often affected by devastating events. Also this time the quake brought an unacceptable loss of 309 human lives, with an enormous social and economic impact and the loss of a unique historical and architectural heritage. However, the event, was an “extraordinary” occasion of scientific and technological research that involved the entire national and international community of Earth Sciences. The complex and detailed investigation phase for the reconstruction was a training ground for the scientific, professional and administrative world, often in synergy, but sometimes even in contrast.

Ten years after the earthquake, the Order of Geologists of the Abruzzo Region, the "G. d'Annunzio ”of Chieti-Pescara (Departments DiSPuTer and INGEO), the SIGEA - Italian Society of Environmental Geology and the National Council of Geologists, with the collaboration of other universities and body research, organize a scientific conference to analyzes of the activities geological surveys carried out as a result of this event and illustrate the experiences, the studies carried out and the critical points found to date.

At the meeting an Ispra expert will partecipate.
