One deer, two Islands: conservation of Red Deer Cervus elaphus corsicanus in Sardinia and Corse

The LIFE + Nature on the Sardinian deer is called "Conservation of Red Deer Cervus elaphus corsicanus in Sardinia and Corse-One deer two islands", approved by LIFE11 NAT/IT/000210 code, and foresees a series of activities aimed at increasing ecosystem diffusion of the species in the territory of Sardinia and Corsica, through reintroduction and restocking operations, the develop of ecological corridors for the dispersal of individuals (on agricultural and forest areas) and the rise of genetic variability in populations originated from few subjects.

Will also be produced a communication plan to allow the spreading of project activities by the web and meetings with stakeholders and local populations, and an international conference on the conservation of the Sardinian deer; the project also provides an analysis of the economic and social potentiality in the areas concerned.

The project partners are the Forestry Agency Sardegna, Parco Regionale Corso, ISPRA, the province of the Medio Campidano and the Province of Ogliastra.
