The poject "Guidelines for Environment and Landscape in the infrastructure sectors," is a collaboration between Ispra, Catap (Coordination of the Technical Association - Scientific Environment and Land Management), University and Research Institutes to develop methodologies and tools that combine operational infrastructure planning consistent with the objectives of eco-compatibility s and protection of landscape and environmental values of the area.

The infrastructure sector plays, in fact, a strategic and fundamental role for the national economic development, but it is also one of the areas that  produce the most pressure on the environment and natural resources.

A careful design of these structures to human needs and those of other biotic and abiotic components represents a prerequisite to combine sustainable development and conservation of natural resources.

The project aims to create a series of technical guidelines on specific topics that contain operational guidelines to support the design of infrastructure, as well as the preparation of studies and environmental reports . Furthermore, with reference to the aspects of the ecology (habitats, flora, fauna and landscape), these documents may provide a useful tool to achieve the objectives contained in the National Strategy for Biodiversity allowing, in accordance with applicable regulations, the reduction of the negativeeffects on  and environment.

The results of the first phase of the project, collected in the publication MLG 65/2010 Environment, landscape and infrastructure, Volume I ", were presented at the conference" Environmental Guidelines and in the infrastructure sectors of the landscape " December 2, 2010. In subsequent phases, the project includes:

• the preparation of additional documents to address technical issues on specialized analysis and environmental assessment identified as of priority interest in the relationship between human interventions, landscape and environment
• Integration and update documents, following the debate and the comments of the technical-scientific community,
• the development of a glossary of common and shared, in addition to what already produced in the different thematic papers

During the work of the seminar the following publications were presented:
Ambiente, Paesaggio e Infrastrutture - Volume II
(Environment, Landscape and Infrastructure - Volume II)

Manuali e linee guida - 76/2011

Ambiente, Paesaggio e Infrastrutture - Volume III
(Environment, Landscape and Infrastructure - Volume III)
