The wind farms in the perception of some communities of Sub-Appennino Dauno. 1.Exploratory study based on interviews with key informants

The use of wind as source for electric power production, despite being praiseworthy for the purpose of fossil fuels substitution, has led to controversies, conflicts and dissent, especially regarding territorial compatibility problems and acceptance by local communities related to the installation and operation of large wind turbines.

An ISPRA research group analyzed such problems through an empiric investigation on a territorial area in the province of Foggia, characterized by an important presence of wind farms. In this report, the results of the exploratory phase of the research are presented, whose fundamental nucleus is constituted by the analysis of several qualitative interviews to local “Key Informants”, such as administrators, exponents of some opposition committees, experts in the field of energy, particularly involved citizens.
