Water monitoring network and programmes design compliant with Legislative Decree no. 152/2006 (which transposed European Directive 2000/60/CE).

Resolution of the Federal Council of the Regional Environmental Agencies. Meeting of 30 June 2014 DOC. 42/14 CF

EU Member States have over recent years reviewed their monitoring programmes in order to meet the requirements of the Water Framework Directive (WFD). Monitoring programmes are required to establish a coherent and comprehensive overview of water status within each river basin district. The objective of monitoring is furthermore to validate pressure analysis, to verify risk assessment for water bodies failing to achieve environmental objectives at 2015, to classify water bodies and to control the consequences of the implementation of programme of measures within each River Basin District.

The purpose of the Guideline is to recommend technical procedures useful for Regional Environmental Agencies when designing water
monitoring networks and programmes so that they are founded on common and comparable criteria at national level.
