Geology and Tourism ... 10 years after its foundation (Proceedings ISPRA, 2015)

ISPRA dedicates a volume of the Proceedings to the conference celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Italian Association of Geology and Tourism, confirming the interest of the Institute for the topics addressed by the Association: the knowledge of the territory and of its resources and its risk factors, the committment for the preservation of the cultural and environmental heritage.

The publication describes the efforts made by the Association, through contributions relating to all the Italian regions (but also Argentina, Greece and Morocco), in the attempt to integrate the geological heritage - considered as a cultural resource providing an added value - in the most traditional tourist proposals. It also pursued an ambitious and worthy result: collect and provide information about the several experiences realized in this field in the Italian territory, often thanks to the individual initiative and enthusiasm. The exchange of experiences through new events, exhibitions, conferences and tours dedicated to geotourism can enhance this important patrimony.

The book aims to spread the geological culture in the society, in order to make available the scientific, environmental and cultural heritage, also to the general public.

The publication ends with a chapter dedicated to the poster traveling exhibition entitled "A Trip in the geology of Italy, 2nd Edition", which offers additional valuable suggestions for the development of the geological tourism in Italy.
