Research and application of ecotoxicological methods in aquatic environments and contaminated matrices

The research lab in Livorno and  ISPRA Ecotoxicological group (CRA 15), in collaboration with ISMAR-CNR, Ca’ Foscari University (Venice),  the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn of Naples and the Centro Interuniversitario di Biologia Marina ed Ecologia Applicata of Livorno have organized the 5th  workshop "Aquatic Ecotoxicology: research, methodologies and practical applications in aquatic environments and contaminated matrices". This workshop was held in Livorno from 7 to 9 November 2012. It provided a broad discussion between researchers, public and private stakeholders on matters related to the certification and accreditation of ecotoxicological laboratories, the potential application of the ISPRA handbook on the bioassay batteries and the use of ecotoxicological investigations rekated to certain regulatory areas including the "hazardous characteristic" (code H14). Emerging issues, such as the possible health and environmental implications related to the use of nanomaterials and environmental sustainability of production processes, were also discussed. We report the proceedings of the workshop, composed of the scientific publications of oral communications and posters authorized for publication by the authors.
