The Alpine region has its own eco-bio-geographical uniqueness, and therefore is of primary importance from a conservationist point of view. The volume discusses a review of the forms of protection and conservation currently in use on the Alps, both for animal and vegetable species under threat on the European level. It carries out a critical evaluation of the significance of protected animal and vegetable species under international law and within the context of the Alps.
