Cartography of volcanic areas

This addition to the guidelines contained in Quaderno, serie III, n. 1 of the SGN arises from the need to supply a more clearly defined methodological approach for the geological cartography of volcanic terrains. The review of recently drawn up geological sheets, inacted by the National Geological Service (now ISPRA – Land Defence Department), has in fact revealed contrasting interpretations. Moreover the cartographic trials launched thanks to CARG project have involved various types of volcanic system.
