FAQ Frequently Asked Questions

The “stations” files do not have any gravity value, can you explain this?
The “station” files are delivered only to position the actual point measurements, this can be useful for qualitative map interpretation; gravity stations were measured during the years by many Institutions that have lent permission to use them to the Geophysical Service of ISPRA (SUO GFI). The data property remains to the Institutions providing the data.

Why the vectorial files of the isoanomalies are available only in UTM 32 ED 50?
The .zip files of the gravity contours of each map contain the .prj  projection definition file in order to permit the visualization in other projections.

Some grid files contain null values, can you explain this?
Null node areas (blanked values) are due to obligations in data distribution requested by ENI.

Do you plan to produce further gravity maps?
This project is expected to grow and, due to the digital format, to be updated with new maps or new versions of existing datasets in case of new data collections or processing algorithms.
In the future we plan to produce shaded relief gravity maps and filtered maps to enhance the gravity signal information and to produce “Free Air “ gravity maps.
Registered users will be informed on new releases of the data.
