Using the geological mapping (1:10,000 scale) and a large amount of stratigraphic sections, an accurated 3D reconstruction of the Jurassic setting and evolution of the Polino area (18 km2) has been proposed.
The whole data set, integrated with new field analyses, inserted within the CARG Project (Sheet 347 Rieti, 1:50000 scale) has been elaborated through a 3D software to obtain a 3D picture of the modern and Jurassic settings of the area.
In particular, elaboration have been made to reconstruct the morphology of the palaeostructures and of the palaeosurfaces (e.g. palaeoescarpment), and to picture step-by-step the Jurassic evolution, including growth and geometry of the sedimentary bodies (allowing an estimate of the relevant rock-volume), and the changes of the palaeotopography.
