Human pressure

This index represents the total anthropogenic disturbance that affects the environment within a physiographic landscape unit, in analogy to what defined at the scale 1:50,000 for biotopes.

The indicators that contribute to the evaluation of human pressure are:

• total pollution load calculated using the method of equivalent population
• impact of agricultural activities
• impact of transport infrastructure (road and rail)
• subtraction of territory due to the presence of built-up areas
• presence of protected areas, as a detractor of human pressure
