INSPIRE Directive

The European INSPIRE directive (INfrastructure for SPatial InfoRmation in Europe) aims to ensure that the spatial data infrastructures of all EU Member States are compatible and usable in a pan-European context assisting policy-making in environmental issues.
INSPIRE defines 34 spatial data themes related to environmental applications and requires standardization on all of them.
