ECOSofia – ISPRA Summer School on Environmental Ethics and Communication
Jun 09, 2026 — Jun 12, 2026 Perugia – Galleria nazionale dell’UmbriaPoets, philosophers, theologians, artists: they will be the lecturers of the EcoSofia summer school dedicated to environmental humanities, organized by the School of Specialization in Environmental Disciplines (SSDA) of ISPRA and also supported by the MIMIT as part of the “Facciamo Circolare/2” campaign.
EcoSofia was created with a clear goal: to unite scientific and humanistic disciplines, which must necessarily engage in dialogue and work together for the “ecological and spiritual” evolution of human beings—without which genuine respect for the environment cannot exist.
Thirty Years of the Framework Law on Noise Pollution: Assessment and Perspectives
May 05, 2026 08:30 AM — May 05, 2026 05:30 PM Sapienza Università di Roma, Facoltà di Ingegneria civile e industriale, Via Eudossiana,18In 2026 marks the thirtieth anniversary of the entry into force of Law No. 447 of 26 October 1995, the “Framework Law on Noise Pollution,” a milestone in Italian environmental legislation.
Over these three decades, the law has made it possible to build a system of prevention and control, promoting increasing public and institutional awareness of noise pollution issues.
Thanks to its innovative structure, a large part of the national territory is now equipped with operational tools such as:
- acoustic zoning,
- municipal regulations,
- remediation plans,
- environmental noise impact assessments.
However, after thirty years, new challenges have emerged. The regulatory framework has become more complex, technologies and lifestyles have changed, and new noise sources require updated tools and approaches.
The event aims to reflect on the results achieved and to explore future perspectives for improving the management and regulation of noise pollution in Italy.
Italian port infrastructure and its monitoring: ISPRA’s two new geodatabases – Maritime Works Layout and Port Transformation Areas
Apr 29, 2026 09:00 AM — Apr 29, 2026 01:00 PM Rome, ISPRA headquarter, via Vitaliano Brancati 48On April 29, 2026, at 9:00 AM, the Conference Hall of ISPRA will host the conference:
“Italian Port Infrastructure and Its Monitoring: ISPRA’s Two New GeoDBs – Maritime Works Layout and Port Transformation Areas.”
Based on high-resolution data layers covering the entire national coastal system, ISPRA presents and releases two new databases:
Maritime Works Layout (AOM), including the digitization and characterization of all structures classified as port infrastructure, with details on their type, function, and usage conditions, their evolution over time, ISTAT references, affiliation with relevant territorial authorities or administrations, and declared or estimated berthing capacity;
Port Transformation Areas (ATP), including the digitization and characterization of polygons related to obstruction (seabed occupation), excavation (coastal land occupation), and alteration (modification of natural conditions within basins) for all coastal port infrastructures, compared to pre-development conditions (ante operam).
