Geological Field Trips and Maps

Geological Field Trips (GFT) is a new on-line journal providing geological excursion guides presented during Earth’s science seminars and congresses, representing a cultural asset, often of benefit only to the participants of these events. GFT is jointly produced by the Italian Geological Survey, incorporated within the Italian National Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA) and the Italian Geological Society, which guarantee its high scientific standard.
The online publication allows to reach a wider audience, thus increasing the dissemination and use of several itineraries of great geological interest. Over the last years, experience and fundamental geological field work are dangerously decreasing. GFT aims to stimulate the return to field research, as well as to allow those who cannot travel to directly view of areas providing important information on a detailed or regional scale. Therefore, GFT will offer rigorous scientific information, based on field campaigns, on a much larger scale than in the past.
The Editorial Board is composed by specialists of several disciplines working in Italy and abroad covering the whole spectrum of geosciences and research carried out nationally and internationally.
Besides Geological Field Trips, the partnership among the Italian Geological Survey and the Italian Geological Society is already publishing the joint Italian Journal of Geosciences, representing the merging of the two previously separated historical publications existing since the late 1800s.
