The Municipal Waste Report is the result of complex effort of data collection, analysis and processing by ISPRA's National Waste and Circular Economy Centre, with the support of regional and provincial Environmental Protection Agencies. Its purpose is to provide an objective, timely and constantly updated information framework to support legislators in orienting appropriate policies and interventions, monitoring their effectiveness, and introducing corrective measures if necessary.

Most marine litter originates on land, disperses into the environment, and is transported via rivers into the seas. As part of the monitoring programs under the Marine Strategy Directive, which provides a framework for community action in marine environmental policy, an Operational Agreement between the Ministry of the Environment (MASE) and ISPRA included a monitoring program on floating macro-litter in 12 Italian rivers at survey stations near their mouths.

The report describes the greenhouse gas emissions and removals in Italy, based on the data officially transmitted in accordance with the provisions of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and the Governance of the Energy Union and Climate Action of the European Union.

Blue Economy report 2024 The new edition of the EU Blue Economy Report is out, offering an in-depth analysis of European blue economy sectors and their performances based on the latest available data.

Environment in Italy: an overview. Environmental Data Yearbook 2023 is a statistical report produced by the Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research(ISPRA) in collaboration with the regional and autonomous province environmental protection agencies as part of the National System for Environmental Protection (SNPA).

On 2 May 2018 the Commission Decision 2018/680/EU establishing the criteria for awarding the EU Ecolabel to indoor cleaning services entered into force. Since then, 175 companies in this sector have been certified in Italy, accounting for 85% of all cleaning service licences issued in the EU. Behind this success is also the CAM issued in January 2021.

The report describes the reporting of emissions of greenhouse gases that Italy officially communicates in accordance with the requirements of the United Nation Convention of Climate Change (UNFCCC), and the European Union’s Greenhouse Gas Monitoring Mechanism.

Investments of up to €8 billion in the wind sector

The Atlas of environmental data, a volume that ISPRA publishes in this new edition, which offers an overview and a selection of the main environmental data in Italy. It provides cartographic representations that show the distribution of the main environmental information on the territory which, together with graphs, tables and texts, illustrate the situation of our country.

The Mediterranean trout, included in Annex II of the Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC, is a key species of aquatic ecosystems for its role at the top of the trophic networks of the Apennine, island and hill mountain watercourses.

In the framework of its activity on national operational hydrology, the Italian National Institute for Environmental Protection and Research has developed the distributed water budget model named BIGBANG – Bilancio Idrologico GIS BAsed a scala Nazionale su Griglia regolare , aimed at evaluating over Italy the hydrological water budget at the monthly scale and at computing relevant indicators for the water resource management.
