World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought
Jun 17, 2020 12:00 PM — Jun 17, 2020 03:00 PM Web meetingThe world day promoted by United Nations to combat against desertification and drought is celebrated every June 17, with the aim to make people aware on the international efforts to fight the desertification and its effects, and that it's needed an strong involvement of the community and cooperation at any levels. This year the theme for the World Day of Desertification and Drought is (Food-Feed-Fiber) with the aim of raising public awareness of those unsustainable forms of production and consumption that contribute to soil degradation and consumption of water resources.
Campaign ISPRA-CNG "Report the landslide"
Jun 11, 2020In the framework of the agreement between the National Council of Geologists and ISPRA, the national campaign "Report the landslide" was launched which in the context of the new NATIONAL #IdroGEO PLATFORM ON HYDROGEOLOGICAL INSTABILITY IN ITALY produced by ISPRA in the "Environmental Statistics Project" for cohesion policies of PON Governance and Institutional Capacity 2014-2020.

The Department for the Geological Service of Italy - ISPRA, the Italian Geographic Society and SIGEA propose a study-day on "The ancient cartographic representation of the territory and geomorphological processes". It would be analyzed the evolution of cartography and the representation of the territory from antiquity to the present day and we will come to discuss the use of new techniques for analyzing the territory.

In the assessment and management of contaminated sites, site-specific risk analysis represents a very important decision-making tool that allows to establish the contamination status of an area, the possible need for remediation and safety measures, and also purposes of human health protection and environmental resources. The manuals "Methodological criteria for the application of the absolute risk analysis of contaminated sites" and "Methodological criteria for the application of the absolute risk analysis to landfills" were the first examples of sharing and homogenization of technical / scientific procedures at national level in environmental matters between APAT (now ISPRA) and regional agencies for environmental protection.

The Department for the Geological Service of Italy - ISPRA, the Italian Geographic Society and SIGEA propose a study-day on "Underground cavities hidden or disappeared under the urban context". This event is the third module of the cycle "Third day of Geology and History". The theme dealt with in this study day will focus on the numerous underground voids still present below the Italian cities and in particular in the metropolitan areas, such as Rome, Naples, Cagliari and Palermo.

Informative day for the Project EMODNET - Geology

EMODnet (European Marine Observation and Data Network) - Lot Geology is a project funded by EU Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (D.G. MARE) with the aim to gather and make available geological data from European seas. Digital maps of geological data are available on the EMODnet Geology Project Portal. They are harmonized at European level and organized into different themes which describe the geological characteristics of European seabed (sediments distribution, seafloor geology, coastal behaviour, geological events, marine minerals, submerged landscapes). The Geological Survey of Italy - ISPRA is the Italian Partner of the Project and coordinates the Work Package " Geological events and probabilities”, which includes volcanoes, earthquakes, landslides, tsunamis, fluid emissions and Quaternary tectonics.
EMODnet Geology Infoday aims to inform the Italian geologists community on the results achieved by the Project as well as on the harmonization and availability of marine geology data and potential future developments.
