Walking through the environment

“Walking through the environment” is an ISPRA publication aimed at an audience of young students and non-experts. The Ministry of education recognizes it as a contribution to the “RiGenerazione Scuola” National Plan.
The virtual walk stretches through six environmental paths: Crossing the city; Trip to the countryside; Towards the sea; Going up the river; Back home, it comes full circle; Education, a sustainability agenda.

Waste, new reforms

Two important regulatory instruments have been formally operational in our country since 30 June: the national waste management plan and the strategy for the circular economy that will guide Italy's path towards an increasingly circular economic model.

National conference EcoForum - IX edition

Legambiente, Nuova Ecologia and Kyoto Club, in collaboration with Conai and Conou, will organize the 9th edition of EcoForum, the national conference on the circular economy. At the end of the two days of work, the XXIX edition of Comuni Ricicloni will take place, the awarding of the Free Waste Municipalities.

Presentation of the decrees for the adoption of the "National strategy for the circular economy" and the approval of the "National program for waste management"

Today at 11.30, at the Ministry for Ecological Transition, the Undersecretary for Ecological Transition, Mr Vannia Gava, will present the contents of the decrees signed by Minister Roberto Cingolani for the adoption of the "National strategy for the circular economy" and for the approval of the "National program for waste management". These are important reforms foreseen in the PNRR that will allow Italy to reach 2 of the 11 targets set for June.

The national strategy for the circular economy is a document that provides for actions, objectives and measures to be pursued in defining institutional policies for the circular economy. The National Waste Management Program is one of the strategic and implementation pillars of the National Strategy: it is a tool for the Regions and Autonomous Provinces in planning and managing waste towards a sustainable and circular economy.
The head of the sustainable development department, Laura D'Aprile, the general director for the circular economy, Silvia Grandi, the president of ISPRA, Stefano Laporta, the general director of ISPRA, Maria Siclari, the head of the National Center for waste and the circular economy, Valeria Frittelloni.

Presentation on Waste from Economic Activities. Edition 2022

The Report on on Waste from Economic Activities, now at its twenty-first edition, is the result of a complex activity of collection, analysis and processing of data by the National Centre for Waste Circular Economy of ISPRA, with the contribution of regional and provincial Environmental Protection Agencies,  that implements a specific task required by article 189, d.lgs. n. 152 of 3th April 2006.
The conference, with the presence of the Undersecretary of Sato at the Ministry of Ecological Transition, represents an opportunity for discussion with the main stakeholders on how the waste management system has reacted to the Covid-19 emergency.

The Report on Non-Municipal Waste 2022 provides data related to year 2020, about generation and management of non-hazardous and hazardous waste, at national and regional level, and about management also at provincial level.

A relay race for the environment

50th World Environment Day
With the aim to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Stockholm Conference, the first world conference on the environment, the UNEP (United Nation Environment Program) has chosen the #OnlyOneEarth theme. In the Universe there are billions of galaxies, in ours there are billions of planets, but there is only one planet Earth. In order for all its inhabitants to survive, humans must lead a sustainable lifestyle, safeguarding limited resources and remaining in harmony with nature. In the Conference of 1972, 26 principles were identified on the conservation and enhancement of the environment, which after 50 years remain a useful guide to follow.

Circular Economy as a strategic axis of the Ecological Transition

On Tuesday 31 May at 3 pm the meeting will be held on the theme: "Circular economy as a strategic axis of the ecological transition. Technologies and systems to create new wealth from the recovery of resources and raw materials ".

We will be faced some topics such as circular economy and its areas of application, such as the environment, supply chains and work.

The new environmental governace business-friendly

The assembly will face the topic "The new environmental governace business-friendly", with particular reference to the qualification of the RT, which, especially for companies already operating, will have to be submited to the updated verification by next October 16, 2023; as well as the subject of telematic traceability of waste, with the new RENTRI system.

Green Book 2022 presentation

The Green Book is the complete monograph of the municipal waste sector in Italy. The volume is structured in 3 sections, in each of which specific aspects of the environment sector are addressed.
ISPRA also contributes to the 2022 edition of the Green Book, with an analysis of exports and imports of urban and special waste, and a focus on the role of technological innovation in the sector, with particular reference to the plastics supply chain.

The history and role in the ecological transition of the CONAI System

The presentation event of the Consortium's 25 years of activity will take place on Monday 28 March from 15:00 to 18:00, at the Conference Hall Palazzo Theodoli-Bianchelli of the Chamber of Deputies in Rome.

Circular economy in the age of energetic crisis

On the occasion of the World Recycling Day, the conference "The circular economy in the era of the energy crisis" will be held on 17 March in Rome at the Zuccari room in Palazzo Giustiniani.

Presentation Municipal Waste Report - edition 2021

The Edition 2021 of the Municipal Waste Report provides data (reference year 2020) concerning municipal waste generation, separate collection and management at national, regional and provincial level as well as data on import/export of municipal waste. Furthermore, data on packaging waste management, costs of the municipal waste management service and tariff scheme implementation in 2020 are reported.

Recycling in Italy 2021

Recycling in Italy 2021, the annul report on the on the recycling and recovery of waste, created by FISE UNICIRCULAR and the Foundation for Sustainable Development, reaches its twelfth edition this year. The Report presentation event will take place in Rome on 14 December 2021 from 10.00 to 12.30. The event will be broadcast in live streaming.

Open ecological transition. Where is the Italian environment going?

A country covered almost 40% by forests, more than Germany and Switzerland, and which has seen protected areas of land and sea grow up to 20% of the national territory. Greenhouse gas emissions, which have decreased by 19% in the last 30 years, are reduced, as are the main sources of air pollution. However, ozone, the situation of large urban centers and the Po Valley are worrying. Progress also for the circular economy: the economy uses less and less natural resources, separate waste collection continues to increase and landfill is increasingly reduced. On the other hand, the situation for land consumption is worsening: 60 square kilometers still lost every year or 15 hectares a day.
ISPRA presented the Open Ecological Transition report on 13 December which allows us to interpret the changes that have occurred in recent years in the aspects of the Italian environment.
It is a clear synthesis of the many dynamics that determine the Italian ecological transition, which immediately brings the most important aspects of each problem or phenomenon to the attention of society, highlighting the critical issues but also the results already achieved or achievable.The document is divided into three parts: The Italian environment at a glance, Natural systems, Human systems, for a total of 12 chapters and 66 items.

As part of the Ecomondo 2021 event, the States General of the Green Economy will be held on 26 and 27 October. RemTech Expo 2021

RemTech Expo is the only international event specializing in the protection and sustainable development of territories - rehabilitation (reclamation, circular economy), natural risks (coasts, instability, climate, seismic), regeneration (ports, cities, cultural heritage, industry). Final conference GRRinPORT project

During the day, action plans and results will be presented that will help ship owners and port facility managers towards an eco-sustainable approach. Launched in April 2018, the project was tested in the four ports of Cagliari, Livorno, Bastia and Ajaccio.

Environmental statistics for cohesion policies 2014-2020

Since May 2018 ISPRA has been a beneficiary of the project aimed at expanding the set of territorial indicators today released by public statistics on the environment, satisfying on the one hand the new international information requests (for example SDG indicators )and at the same time aligning the availability of data and indicators to the information needs of policy makers.
