Action for climate : European Commission invites the industry to share the best practices

Last 8 April  some representatives of industry and the public sector from 10 European Countries have traveled to Denmark to visit innovative companies in the field of energy efficiency.

This is the first of a series of events organized by stakeholders in support of the Commission's campaign for climate action "A world you like." Since its launch in October more than 150 partners have joined the campaign as partners and supporters.
"The real challenge of climate is the application of solutions already known at the necessary speed. For this reason it is fundamental to spread best practices," said Connie Hedegaard, Commissioner for Climate Action

This trip includes a visit to companies in various sectors, from food to industrial components, in order to demonstrate  that the economic benefits of energy efficiency offer opportunities for all types of businesses.
One example is from Grundfos, one of the companies that will be visited by participants and one of the world's leading manufacturers of pumps. Since 2008 the company has reduced emissions more than 11% with projects based on energy efficiency for a total of over 14 000 tonnes.
During the same period, sales increased by approximately 20%. Only in Denmark, it is estimated that the company save about 2.5 million per year through energy efficiency. "For us, energy efficiency is not only a question of sustainability but about the profitability. Saving energy and CO2 emissions also reduce our production costs. In this way we have improved profits” said the CEO of Grundfos, Carsten Bjerg
