CE : published a Communication on Energy Technologies and Innovation

The European Commission has recently published a Communication on Energy Technologies and Innovation – COM(2013) 253 final - setting out a strategy to enable EU to have a world-class technology and innovation sector fit for facing challenges up to 2020 and beyond. New technologies are vital to achieve 2020 objectives, in energy, climate, economic and social policy. Within EU energy policy, European Union needs to support a shift to low carbon generation technology and innovative solutions as recognized also in the Commission’s proposals for Horizon 2020, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. The Communication makes a synthesis of EU’s legislation initiatives and progress including consequences for the market and tries to identify future objectives and actions to 2020 and beyond. In particular, the Commission has proposed the development of an Integrated Roadmap together with an Action Plan to promote investments from Member States and European Union.
