Second census plane of cetaceans and sea turtles in the Adriatic sea

Within the European project of cross-border cooperation called NETCET-Network for the Conservation of Cetaceans and Sea Turtles in the Adriatic (http://www.netcet.eu https://www.facebook.com/NETCETproject), coordinated by City of Venice (European Division of Policy and Strategic Plan), the researchers of ISPRA, in collaboration with association Croatian Blue World Institute of Marine Reaserch and Conservation and the International Whaling Commission, will lead the second census to study cetaceans and turtles in the Adriatic.
The project is co-financed by the European Union in the framework of IPA Adriatic Cross-Border Cooperation Programme. The purpose of the survey is to collect data on the distribution and abundance of cetaceans and sea turtles in this basin. These new data, compared with those collected in 2010, will allow to assess the state of conservation of these protected species.  The survey will start on July 15 from the area of Venice, to continue toward the south to the Strait of Otranto.
The data collection method applied in this census is used around the world as part of the obligations of national and international monitoring of various countries relating to the conservation of cetaceans.
