Signed new bilateral agreement between the ISPRA and the Ukrainian Nuclear Safety Authority

At the semi-annual meeting of the European Association of Nuclear Safety Authority ( WENRA ) held in Kiev on 13 and 14 November, was signed a new bilateral agreement between the ISPRA and SRNIU , Ukrainian Nuclear Safety Authority to cooperate in the field of nuclear safety and radiation protection
The conclusion of this Agreement , which replaces an earlier agreement signed by ANPA in 1998  aims to develop cooperation in the field of civil nuclear regulators on issues related to state of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant , such as the decommissioning of nuclear installations and the management of spent fuel and radioactive waste.

With this kind of bilateral cooperation SPRA can have an updated data on reactors in operation close Italian borders and in a wider regional context in case of a nuclear accident , to ensure maximum effectiveness and timeliness in the implementation of emergency plans protection of populations and the environment


On this basis ISPRA actively participates in the follow- up of the Stress Tests promoted by the European Commission in the post - Fukushima and assistance in favor of the Safety Authority nuclear of selected countries of different geographical areas.


At the agreement ceremony of the ISPRA - SRNIU , held in Kiev on 13 November at the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine,took part Mr. Stefano Laporta – ISPRA DG, the President of SRNIU, Olen Mykolaichuk and the Italian Ambassador Mr. Fabrizio Romano.
