A new puffer fish found in the Ionian Sea

Alarm puffer fish ( "Lagocephalus sceleratus")  in Italy: there was a new discovery, the first for the Ionian Sea. A specimen of 4 kg was caught on June 9 in Montebello Jonico, close to Reggio Calabria town, at a depth of about 10 meters. This is the result of the puffer fish campaign, which sees the collaboration between ISPRA researchers, the Maritime fish department of Capitanerie and Seawatchers. The notification allowed immediate contact between fishermen and ISPRA. Italian law prohibits the sale of all puffers and therefore the chances that this species escape into Italian markets, are very low.
