Public consultation on 2030 Climate Target Plan

Last 31 march the EU commission has launched a public consultation "2030 Climate Target Plan", in relation to the  European Green Deal aims to make Europe the world’s first climate-neutral continent. To this end, the Commission intends to increase the EU’s 2030 target for greenhouse gas emission reductions to at least -50% and towards -55% compared to 1990 levels. Revising the current 2030 target upwards puts us on a more gradual pathway towards becoming climate-neutral by 2050. It also helps to pace and focus transition efforts from now until 2050 and ensure EU’s leadership role in addressing global challenges in a sustainable way.

The consultation aims to collect opinions on the desired ambition level of climate and energy policies, necessary actions in different sectors and specific policy design to increase climate ambition by 2030. It also aims to gather further information, including roadmaps, policy briefs and studies relevant for deeper greenhouse gas emission reductions.Due to the broad nature of the initiative, all citizens and organisations are welcome to contribute to the consultation. A broad range of stakeholders are invited to provide inputs, including citizens and the civil society, businesses, NGOs, academia, national, regional and local authorities..

The consultation will be expired by 23 June 2020.
