Blue flags: 416 Italian beaches awarded this year

The main target of the Blue flags program is to promote in the Municipalities close to the sea a sustainable management of the land by means of a series of indications inside the policies that take care about the environmental protection.

The Program criteria are periodically updated in order to encourage local administrations to commit themselves to resolving problems relating to the management of the territory.
In the evaluation phase of the national jury, other institutional bodies also gave their contribution such as the Ministry of Ecological Transition, the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, the Ministry of Tourism, the Coordination of Regional Tourism Councils, ISPRA, 'Higher Institute of Health', the Laboratory of Oceanology and Marine Ecology of the University of Tuscia, the National Federation of the Orders of Chemists and Physicists and the Anci, as well as private bodies such as the seaside unions (SIB-Confcommercio - FIBA - Confesercenti), the FIN.
