Vietnamese delegation in visit to Apat

Biodiversity and sustainable development the topics treated.

A group of APAT experts formed by Maria Dalla Costa, Franco Guiducci, Paolo Gasparri, Luciano Onori, Lorenzo Ciccarese and Susanna D’Antoni has met six representatives of the environment Committee of the Vietnam National Assembly and has explained them the activities of the Agency, with particular reference to biodiversity protection and sustainable development.  The Vietnamese delegation has shown particular interest to the experience of APAT, at a national and European level, related to the alien species control activities, the sharing of the social and economical benefits coming from the protection of nature, the ecological nets, the management of the forests and protected areas. 
The Vice President of the Committee for the Science, Technology and Environment of the Vietnamese National Assembly, Nguyen Dang Vang, has explained that the Parliament of its country is studying a Bill on biodiversity, underlining the necessity of facing the problems of the local populations, which often countvail the institution of protected areas for economical reasons. He has also appreciated the suggestions provided by APAT related to the tools promoted at a national, regional and community level to involve the interested communities in the creation and management of natural parks.
