International Year of Planet Earth

After OneGeology, the Year of Planet Earth Italian Commission
launched "Via Geoalpina" in occasion of the Festival of Science
2008 in Genoa.
The ambitious international initiative aims at becoming a symbol
project of the International Year of Planet Earth in 2009. The
initiative's objective, result of the collaboration of the IYPE
National Committees of Alpine countries, is to prepare a number of
walking touristic itineraries, through Alpine areas of particular
geological interest, with the aim of making these wonderful gifts
of nature known to the general public and available free of charge.
The day will start with a presentation of the project to the public
in Italian, which will be followed by a technical meeting in
English, with limited access to the partners of the initiative.
