The Covenant of Mayors after Durban

The fight against climate change between global agreements and local action

Rome, February 9 Rome, "Palazzo Valentini - Sala Di Liegro", February 9
The 17th Conference of the Parties in Durban represents a turning point in international negotiations to fight climate change: it opens a new phase, during which the global mechanism will be defined, based on binding targets, by which exceed the limits of the Protocol of Kyoto. This turn crosses the new leading role of local authorities and municipalities in the challenge of climate change. The European initiative of the Covenant of Mayors is perhaps the most promising example of this fresh approach "from below", which in many ways represents the evolution of participatory local planning sustainability, opened with Agende21.
Speakers include the Minister of the Environment Corrado Clini and ISPRA's Director General Stefano Laporta.
Participation is free. Please register by sending an e-mail by February 6 to info@susdef.it
