Signed agreement ISPRA/INGV on topics of geology, hydrogeology, tectonics and volcanology

Studies of geology, structural geology, geophysics, phenomena related to earthquakes (active tectonics), earthquakes of the past (paleoseismology), monitoring of soil deformations and variations in sea level, evaluation of geo-resources (oil, gas, minerals) and the dangers associated with their extraction, as well as geochemistry and hydrology studies. These are some of the topics included by the Agreement signed by the ISPRA President Stefano Laporta and the INGV President Carlo Doglioni at ISPRA headquarters.

The agreement, which lasts three years, aims to promote the cooperation between ISPRA, in its role as a national reference for research, collection and dissemination of geological and environmental data, also through the coordination of the National System for the Protection of Environment (SNPA) and INGV, in its role as a national reference research institute for geophysics and volcanology, including the monitoring tasks associated with it.

It also promotes the sharing of geological, geophysical, geotechnical, hydrogeological and seismological information, useful to enhance the complementarity of the respective institutional tasks, develops research activities of common interest, joint participation in research programs at national and international levels,  working groups on specific themes.
