“Resilient by Nature”: the EEA Photo Competition 2026
For all European citizens passionate about photography, the European Environment Agency has today launched the EEA 2026 photo competition entitled “Resilient by Nature,” with the aim of exploring the special relationship that connects us to nature. Harmony, Disruption, and Renewal are the three competition categories, designed to present a comprehensive overview of nature’s resilience — how ecosystems function, how they are disrupted, and how they are restored.
Harmony is dedicated to those who capture images of the hidden connections and processes that allow ecosystems to function. Disruption focuses on moments when natural systems are under stress, including extreme weather events, pollution, and other human impacts. Renewal highlights recovery and adaptation, showcasing restoration efforts, nature-based solutions, and actions that help ecosystems regain their balance.
The competition is open to adults residing in member and cooperating countries of the European Economic Area and will run from May 18 to August 10, 2026. Interested participants may register free of charge and submit up to five photographs. Winners in each category will receive a cash prize, as well as the opportunity for additional recognition through awards such as the Public Choice Award and the Youth Prize.
