LIFETURTLENEST at EMBS in Peniche with a study on the impacts of coastal defense systems on Caretta caretta nesting activity
ISPRA participated with LIFE TURTLENEST project in the international conference European Marine Biology Symposium (EMBS), which took place in Peniche, Portugal, from July 7 to 10. EMBS is one of the longest-running and most prestigious scientific conferences on marine sciences, representing an important forum for scientific exchange and debate on European marine biology.
Within the activities of the European project LIFE TURTLENEST, co-funded by the European Union and coordinated by Legambiente, the Institute, as partner of the project, presented a scientific poster on the the impacts of coastal defense systems on Caretta caretta nesting sites.
The objective of this study is to analyze how coastal defense structures can interfere with, alter, or influence the access to and quality of the beaches chosen by sea turtles for nesting.
