The workshop aims to discuss the conditions for integrating nature-based solutions into urban adaptation and mitigation strategies through a comparison of concrete experiences in Italian and European cities. Best practices based on planning tools, financing models, and monitoring systems for generating environmental, social, and economic benefits will be examined.
European cities are increasingly challenged to integrate effective solutions to address the challenges posed by climate change, while simultaneously improving urban quality and ensuring equitable distribution of the resulting benefits. Nature-based solutions (NBS) have proven effective for sustainable stormwater management, reducing urban heat islands, improving air quality, and increasing well-being in cities.
