New Bonelli’s Eagles have taken flight in the skies over Sardinia

New Bonelli’s Eagles have taken flight in the skies over Sardinia in recent days, giving fresh momentum to Life Abilas, the project in which ISPRA, together with its partners, is working to re-establish this bird of prey on the island.

Two adult eagles, Bogarre and Noria, arrived from Spain and were released upon arrival, along with five young birds born in 2026: Ocu, Orteddu, Orticu, Orvilu and Ovesa.

The ISPRA team is monitoring the birds’ movements through GPS tracking devices and has confirmed that they are all doing well and have adapted perfectly to Sardinia’s natural environment.
