Online the publication: "EMAS in the Construction Sector: Best Practices and Circularity"
The construction sector plays a strategic role in the country’s economic development but also exhibits significant potential for improvement in terms of mitigating its environmental impacts, particularly in construction site management.
In this context, the EMAS Regulation represents a voluntary environmental management instrument capable of supporting organizations in the continuous improvement of their environmental performance and in the integration of circular economy principles into their business models. This study analyses data reported in the Environmental Statements of a sample of Italian EMAS- registered organizations operating in the construction sector, with reference to the period 2020–2023, focusing on the key performance indicators adopted. The study identifies specific areas for improvement and proposes good environmental management practices for construction sites, with the aim of promoting more effective communication of environmental performance and supporting the transition of the construction sector towards greater sustainability and circularity.
