Photography Contest: "Land Consumption in Italy 2026"

A photograph to tell the story of change

ISPRA and SNPA are renewing their photography contest initiative to engage professional photographers, landscape and street photography enthusiasts, and anyone who wishes to document the impact of land consumption on our territory.

The aim is to visually capture how new construction sites, buildings, infrastructure, industrial warehouses, logistics facilities, and large-scale retail developments have altered—and continue to alter—the Italian landscape in profound ways.

At the same time, the contest seeks to highlight positive change: documenting environmental restoration projects, depaving initiatives, and the ecological recovery of previously degraded or heavily urbanized areas is essential for showcasing regeneration processes and providing a comprehensive view of territorial transformations.

The winning photograph will be featured as the official cover image of the National Report “Land Consumption, Territorial Dynamics and Ecosystem Services.” The official award ceremony will take place in Rome during the presentation of the latest land consumption data, where all selected photographs will be exhibited to the public.
