DESCRIPTION:On 25 and 26 October\, the kick off meeting of the Life natura
   PROMETHEUS  project took place in Thessaloniki (Greece). Through a multi
 lateral approach (use of systems to reduce accidental catches in professio
 nal fishing\, deep involvement of the various stakeholders\, valorisation 
 of ecotourism\, transition towards alien species as targets for fisheries 
 with food value\, etc.)\, the project proposes multiple objectives aimed a
 t improving the conservation status of some emblematic species of Mediterr
 anean cartilaginous fish. ISPRA\, together with other national and interna
 tional partners\, is part of a large consortium\, rich in experience and s
 cientific excellence in the field of European research on cartilaginous fi
 sh\, coordinated by Professor Emanuela Fanelli of the Polytechnic Universi
 ty of Marche.
