During the event, hosted by ARPA Sicilia, ISPRA Environmental Impact Assessment experts presented the contents of the Manual, which provides practical guidance and methodologies for assessing the impact of marine works and interventions on protected habitats and species. This represents a concrete step towards strengthening the Natura 2000 network, including in marine environments.
The Manual is one of the key actions of the LIFE SEA.NET "Urgent actions for the implementation of marine Natura 2000 Network" a project coordinated by Legambiente, in collaboration with MASE and numerous local authorities.
During the meeting, the case studies included in the Addendum were also discussed, demonstrating the concrete application of the assessment procedures (Vinca Levels I and II) in the marine areas involved in the project.
This is an important event to raise awareness of the importance of marine protection and to provide useful tools for those working to protect it. The next stop is Venice, October 2-3!
