DESCRIPTION:This year’s #WorldSoilDay theme is “Healthy Soils for Heal
 thy Cities”\, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the 
 United Nations (FAO). The celebration will focus on urban soils\, the chal
 lenges posed by urbanization such as soil sealing\, and how healthy soils 
 can lead to more resilient cities through practices like urban agriculture
 \, composting\, and sustainable urban planning.   For the third year\, Soi
 l Week in Sicily will be dedicated to the scientist Bernardino Romano\, wh
 o passed away on September 1\, 2023. A full professor of Territorial Plann
 ing and Urban Planning Techniques in the Department of Civil\, Constructio
 n-Architecture and Environmental Engineering at the University of L’Aqui
 la\, and a member of the WWF scientific community\, Romano in recent years
  had focused his research on land consumption and urban sprawl.
