Tarquinia Salt Pans, a Treasure Chest of Biodiversity and Geodiversity

The reportage made during an excursion organized by ISPRA, in collaboration with the Carabinieri of the Biodiversity Protection Unit of Rome, tells the story of a place of great charm. The Tarquinia Salt Marshes Nature Reserve is a hypersaline wetland, one of the few remaining in the Tyrrhenian Sea, whose extension represents different geological-environmental aspects. The salt marsh is recognized as a site of community importance (SCI) and a special protection area (ZPS).
