DESCRIPTION:The excursion is organized by ISPRA as part of the  14th edit
 ion of Earth Science Week    This 6.5-km circular trail runs through the S
 elva del Lamone Regional Nature Reserve\, following mule tracks that borde
 r volcanic outcrops colonized by vegetation.   The Reserve is an important
  biotope established on a basaltic lava flow belonging to the Vulsini Volc
 anic Complex\, which was emplaced approximately 100\,000 years ago\, follo
 wed by cooling and subsequent fragmentation. This process gave rise to the
  frasfuni\, a chaotic expanse of basaltic blocks\, the most famous of whic
 h is known as Rosa Crepante.
